MEET MARC
Volunteer - Advocate - Community Connector

Born in Moncton and raised in Riverview, Marc Leger has deep roots in the region and a lifelong commitment to public service and advocacy. After spending several years away, he returned to Moncton twelve years ago and now lives in the West End with his wife and two young daughters.
Marc will bring a unique perspective to Moncton City Council, based on a diverse set of professional and volunteer experiences. After high school he hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. He worked in factories, construction, landscaping, and the service industry. In college he studied Radio Broadcasting and worked briefly as a radio DJ. He continued his studies, completing a tourism and adventure recreation program which led to outdoor leadership work with youth. An opportunity to work for the national youth volunteer program, Katimavik, was where he truly gained an appreciation for the essential role that NGOs play in communities across Canada.
For most of his life, Marc has been involved in volunteer trail building and stewardship. His father and uncle were founders of the Fundy Footpath. While studying Geography and Environment at Mount Allison University, Marc began seeing opportunities to work full time as a specialist in trail development. He would go on to work for Trans Canada Trail, Parks Canada, and the Southeast Regional Service Commission (where he has worked for the past seven years). In his current role, he leads the development of a long-distance hiking and cycling route intended to connect every municipality in Southeast NB.
Marc is running for Moncton City Council in Ward 2 to focus on community safety, affordability, and ways to help Moncton grow and prosper. Marc believes his leadership abilities as a community connector can bring the right ideas, organizations and people together to address the complex social issues we face.
